Kimberly, of Dominican and Colombian descent, was immersed in her Latin heritage, and its culture and music from an early age. Her interest in dance was seen in her early years growing up, as she exposed herself to various dance forms, including Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Hip-hop, and Reggae.
Geovanny was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Coming from Guatemalan and Colombian parents, he was immersed in Latin music and culture from an early age. His immersion in the culture and music brought about a natural form of expression through dance. From the age of 5 yrs old he was exposed to, and started exploring street dances such as, Hip-hop, Reggae, Funk, Salsa, Bachata, Chacha, Merengue and Cumbia.
After years of extensive training with some of the best in the business, Geovanny and his partner Kimberly aka (Geo and Kim) made the decision to create and display their unique style and passion. In April of 2013, they founded Araguacu Latin Dance Company. Their dance company specializes in teaching the essence and natural rhythms of Traditional Bachata and Mambo/Salsa On2. The company is a fusion of diverse cultures and talents, that aims to stay true to the origins of dance, while fusing it with their own unique style of expression. Their unique and impactful teaching methodology helps dancers find their fire, and develop the perfect blend of feeling meets technique.
Their high energy classes and performances have quickly made Araguacu one of the most highly requested teams from Canada.
Together, Geo and Kim also organize Dame Tu Bachata,a bi-weekly event in Toronto that has quickly become one of the best Bachata Socials in Canada. The event has brought out many International Artists in hopes to continue building the Toronto dance community’s love and appreciation for Salsa and Bachata.
Apart from teaching weekly classes in Toronto, they have travelled extensively to compete, teach and perform at festivals in North America, Caribbean, and Europe.
Geo and Kim are known for their sound teaching methodologies and their infectious energy. We can’t wait to welcome them to the Byron Latin Fiesta and to Australia for the very first time in 2019!
