Our Story
The 19th Annual Byron Latin Fiesta is on from 31st Oct – 3rd NOV 2024 in beautiful Byron Bay! Join us for a unique, fun filled event held over 4 Nights & 3 Days in the heart of Byron Bay.
The Byron Latin Fiesta was founded in 2006. It grew out of a passion for Latin American music, dance and culture together with a love for the Byron shire with it’s stunning environment & unique attributes. When the fiesta was born, the main focus was to bring the local Latin dance community together and to give the national industry within Australia a platform to showcase their talents. It was also intended to educate and excite new comers. As the event has evolved and grown it has become an International, National and Local event and yet, it still strives to keep a rather grass roots approach and to stay connected to it’s humble beginnings.

Beautiful Byron Bay
Byron Bay is a beach town in the far north east of New South Wales. The resident population swells by three or four times during summer holidays and other peak times throughout the year. Byron Bay is popular for a number of reasons: it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and also stunning sub tropical rainforest areas. There is a wide variety of events & activities going on all the time. If you are active you can learn to surf or go skydiving, microlighting or hanggliding, kayaking with the dolphins, tours of the region, horseriding, golf, fishing, circus skills, art workshops and more. The area also has one of the highest number of artists and artisans as residents in Australia and you can see this at all the local markets and boutique stores. Sky Blue
Founder & Director
Sky Blue is the founding director of the Byron Latin Fiesta. She is also the Director of Picante Productions, a Melbourne based boutique dance company. Sky has 30 years experience in dance & over 18 years working in the events industry.
Sky created the Byron Latin Fiesta in 2006. This was the start of her ongoing career in directing a variety of dance festivals within Australia, notably, the Sydney International Bachata Festival, the Sydney Cuban Salsa Congress, the Melbourne Kizomba Festival and Festival de Ritmo.
Picante Productions is a boutique company that produces festivals and events, hosts International and National artists and mentor’s new talent. In addition we also offer dance tuition by way of classes, workshops, bootcamps and private tuition. All events are delivered with passion and a fine attention to detail.
The Team
The Byron Latin Fiesta is not possible without the help of the local dance community and a few valuable key members. And, it truely thrives with the additional help we receive each year from our Volunteers.
